Positive start for AfRIS project

As we come to the end of October, which was the first month that schools could book a visit from our mobile outreach team, we’ve been very encouraged by the positive response. Although a few dates remain available in specific locations, our visit schedule for 2018 looks pretty well set. It looks like we’ll be travelling as far south as Jersey and as far north as Unst (Shetland), so will literally be travelling the full length of the British Isles. Both team members are chomping on the bit to get going, but we have another couple of months of preparations ahead of us. Our main task is in preparing workshop modules (or topics) to present to the schools and communities we visit, and whilst most of our demonstration equipment has arrived, we are still awaiting a couple of items, including our new fancy Celestron telescope.

If you were unable to book a visit for 2018, then please add yourselves to the reserve list using the booking page – it will appear as an option when looking at what dates are still available. Not only will reserve schools be contacted if current schools cancel or more dates become available, but they will also get first preference for booking an AfRIS visit in 2019.

Don’t forget, if you have any comments or questions, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
