AfRIS Reborn

On the 1st October 2022, the AfRIS project was reborn as AfRIS STEM Clubs thanks to generous funding from the Science and Technology Facilities Council. Over the next 24 months, the reinvigorated mobile AfRIS team will be directly supporting 15 to 20 remote and island schools to run a STEM Club for their pupils. This will be done through a combination of face-to-face visits, club leader training, online tutorials and remote support.

In the coming months we will be approaching schools in remote and islands communities, with a view to creating 4 to 6 geographical clusters, with each cluster consisting of 3 or 4 primary schools and one secondary school. In supporting school STEM Clubs we will be trialling different levels of support with different schools, in order to determine a best practice model for future remote/island STEM Club provision.
