Description:
The final day of our visit saw us heading past glorious sandy beaches to the village of Leverburgh at the south end of Harris, and from where ferries cross to the Sound of Harris to Berneray and North Uist. Once there we spent the best part of the day at Leverhulme Memorial Primary School. With only 28 pupils in total, the two of us were able to work with small fairly small groups of P1-3 and P4-7 pupils. Whilst the younger group looked at the Earth, Sun and Moon, followed by the Solar System, the older group looked at Solar System and Gravity. The P4-7s then went on to create planispheres in the Stars and Constellations module, before looking at the Nature of Light. After lunch, there was just enough time to give our Space Exploration talk before we had to quickly pack our demonstration equipment and drive the 30 miles back to Tarbert to catch the afternoon ferry back to the Isle of Skye and then home. All in all, a very busy week.
