Description:

It was our final day in the Channel Islands, and we spent the day at La Moye School, in the south-west corner of Jersey. La Moye is a large primary school (320 pupils), each year-group of which seemed to be focusing on different STEM areas. As such, we spent the day delivering different workshops to different class-groups, which involved the team splitting up to ensure that every pupil was seen at some point in the day. Whilst Year 3 and 6 looked at the Nature of Light, Year 5 was busy learning more about Gravity, which included demonstrations using our gravity well … and no, it’s not a trampoline. We also squeezed in a talk about Space Exploration for Year 1, 2 and 4, which talked about the early days of the space race, as well as looking towards the exciting array of space missions that are in the pipeline. We also covered Earth, Sun and Moon with Year 3, and looked at Observing the Night Sky with Year 6. It was a busy day from start to finish, but the efficiency of the teaching staff meant that sessions started and ended on time. It’s been a fascinating week in the channel islands, and we look forward to our return visit in October.
