Description:

A bigger school today (54 pupils) at the head of Glen Affric. Cannich Bridge Primary school had 3 classes, together with a small nursery. It was a very rural community in a stunning part of the world, with Glen Affric being a well known destination for hikers and visitors. As is becoming usual, we started the day with a look at the Earth, Sun and Moon for the younger class, which today involved four well behaved 4 year olds. The two older classes (P3-P7) came together for the Solar System sessions, but had to split between classrooms for the hands-on activity, because space was needed for the Solar System in your pocket activity. We had the same group making planispheres just before lunch, during our stars and constellations sessions. After lunch, we switched to the laptops, and had the P3-P5 class hunting for asteroids, while the older P6-7s learnt more about robotic telescopes. We ended the day with a look at the Nature of Light.
