The team have just completed a thoroughly enjoyable visit to Kintyre and the Island of Gigha, which saw them working with 63 students and 54 members of the remote communities that we visited. First stop was an afternoon visit to Achahoish Primary school, which was beautifully situated on the banks of Loch Caolisport. It involved a fairly long trek down a single-track road, but thankfully we came across a school bus, which led us to our destination. The afternoon seemed to fly by, and we were soon heading further down into Kintyre for a night-stop. The following morning saw a fairly bumpy and refreshing crossing to Gigha, which was one to blow the cobwebs away. With it being our second visit to Gigha, we were able to run a few more advanced modules with the small number of students on Gigha, and we were delighted to see how well they coped. We soon had them requesting and processing image data from robotic telescopes, and searching the night sky for rogue asteroids. The above picture was taken ahead of our early morning return to the mainland, whereupon we headed to the nearby school of Rhunahaorine Primary, where we presented to wide range of modules to a very inquisitive crowd. All told, a very successful visit, which ran to time and gave us an opportunity to explore a small island community.
